Worship Schedule

Sunday worship in our sanctuary Sunday Worship Service 9:00 a.m.
A liturgical service led by Pastor Mason Okubo with traditional hymns, contemporary worship songs, and special performances by the IFL Choir and the students of our day school. We celebrate the Lord's Supper (communion) every other Sunday.

Sunday School 9:30 a.m.
The kids from preschool to 5th grade are invited to learn more about Jesus at our Sunday School just before Pastor Okubo begins his sermon.

New Members Class 10:30 a.m.
For newcomers wishing to become members of our church, Pastor Okubo is teaching the foundations of the Christian faith and the doctrinal distinctives of the Lutheran church.

Adult Bible Study 10:30 a.m.
LeRoy Schulz leads a lively and informative study through selected books of the Bible and on Christian doctrine. We are currently studying the book of Isaiah.

Vietnamese Worship Service 3:00 p.m.
A Vietnamese-language liturgical service led by Pastor An Thai with traditional hymns.

The Lord's Supper

As a Lutheran church, we believe that the Lord's Supper is the Real Presence of Christ. His true body and blood are offered "in, with and under" the bread and wine. When these are received in faith we receive both the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of our faith (1 Cor 11:10).

If this is your confession you are welcomed to receive communion. If not, please join us at the Lord's Table with crossed arms and receive a blessing as part of the body of believers and our unity in Christ.

For those desiring non-alcoholic wine, a white wine is located in the center of the tray.

Directions to the Church

How to Get Here

Immanuel First Lutheran Church is a half mile south of the San Bernardino Freeway (Interstate 10) in West Covina, California. We are about 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles and 40 miles west of San Bernardino.

Take the Vincent Avenue exit south from the I-10 freeway.
Turn left at West Covina Parkway, which becomes Valinda Avenue.
Turn left at Service Avenue. The Immanuel campus is on the corner of Valinda and Service. Our main parking lot is on the left side of Service. Additional weekend parking is available off Valinda Avenue in the East Valley Health Center parking lot next to our school.

Church Buildings and Parking Lots

When you arrive, we hope this color-coded map of the Immanuel First campus will help you in locating our sanctuary, school and church events—and a close parking spot. :)

Parking Lots: Our main parking lot is on Service Avenue. The secondary lot on Valinda Avenue is available on weekends.
Sanctuary: All our worship services, including those of Grace Chinese Alliance Church, are held here.
Day School and Preschol: Classrooms for preschool thru 8th grade, library and school office.
Parish Hall: on Day School quad. Home of our Men's Breakfasts, Sunday Adult Bible Studies, and other events.
